Special Immunization Clinic

What is this study?

This study will collect information about adverse events following immunization and contraindications to vaccination, investigations and  re-vaccination from patients attending the Special immunization Clinic.  The information collected will be de-identified and assist in building standard care plans to guide and direct doctors as they care for patients with adverse events following immunization and with possible contraindications to immunization. Currently there are 8 participants enrolled.

Why are we doing this study?

Immunization has saved more lives in Canada than any other health intervention.  The great success of vaccine programs has resulted in a decrease in vaccine preventable diseases.  Now that we rarely see these diseases, attention has shifted to concerns about vaccine safety.  Specialized centers in Canada routinely collect information an vaccine preventable diseases and possible side effects to vaccines, and in addition to this other research work is ongoing to look at vaccine safety and follow up.
